With final exams approaching we are provided the opportunity to attend European Qualifying Examination (EQE) training courses offered by JDD Consultants in Milton Keynes.
The EQE consists of four papers:
- Paper A – tests the candidate’s ability to draft claims and the introductory part of a European patent application
- Paper B – Requires candidates to prepare a response to an official letter citing the prior state of the art
- Paper C – Involves drafting a notice of opposition to a European patent
- Paper D – assesses candidates’ ability to answer legal questions and to draft legal assessments
The training courses cover exam technique for each specific paper and run mock exams using past papers followed by feedback discussions with tutors.
R&G are clear on their commitment to protecting the environment and working toward a sustainable future so in an attempt to travel green and avoid the numerous train strikes which plagued the month of December we decided to cycle the 96km journey to Milton Keynes for the Paper C Opposition course.
Despite a number of attempts to plot the shortest and flattest route possible, it was clear that it wasn’t going to be a trip for the faint hearted. We set off at 8am from North London, and the traffic was surprisingly smooth as we climbed up the notorious Highgate Hill and out on the open roads of the suburbs. Our first pit stop was at the halfway point, in the quaint town of St Albans, where we took a break for sustenance in the form of brownies and coffee. The 10 am sugar rush gave us the energy needed to climb up to the viewpoint at the top of the Dunstable Downs, before descending into Milton Keynes. We completed the cycle in a respectable 4 hours 32 minutes with time for a quick shower and lunch before the course started.
