Call for rapid sanitising technology for ambulances

07/04/2020

Do you have an innovative or novel approach to clean ambulances quicker to help combat COVID-19? The UK Government is asking for your help.

Currently it can take up to 45 minutes to clean ambulances once they have transported a patient suspected of having COVID-19. Rapid sanitising technology solutions are required to enable ambulances to be effectively decontaminated faster, so that they can return to service as quickly as possible.

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is looking for rapid sanitising technology to speed up the time it takes to clean ambulances to help in the national effort against COVID-19.

DASA has launched the new Innovation Focus Area as part of its Open Call for Innovation. More details about the Innovation Focus Area can be found here. The Innovation Focus Area has been given the unique identifier IFA019.

Solutions that are mobile, allow ease of operation and maintenance, and are robust and reliable are of particular interest. Ideally, systems will be applicable to a variety of public sector vehicles, such as ambulances, buses, and trains, and may be applicable to hospital wards.

Proposals can be submitted here. Alternatively, if you have an idea, but you are not sure if it is what DASA are looking for, you are able to contact a DASA Innovation Partner here.

DASA, a cross-Governmental organisation created by the Ministry of Defence (MOD), exists to help the UK Government access innovative ideas, equipment and services. As part of the Defence Innovation Directorate of the MOD, DASA finds, funds and supports industry, helping academics and enterprises of all sizes to develop their innovative ideas into exploitable products and services.
