Alex Maxwell-Keys handles patent work in the engineering, materials and consumer products fields.

Alex joined Reddie & Grose in 2016 after graduating with a Master’s degree in Engineering Science. During his degree, Alex specialised in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics. These specialties served him well during his final university project concerning the design of a radial-inflow turbine for an organic Rankine cycle, and during his internship in a mechanical engineering team at Rolls-Royce. Alex qualified as a Chartered UK Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney in 2021, and was awarded the Ballantyne Prize for the highest mark in the Infringement and Validity (FD4 / P6) UK qualifying examination.

Currently, Alex handles patent work in the engineering, materials and consumer products fields. This work includes drafting patent applications and prosecuting them before patent offices all over the world, advising on infringement and validity issues, and representing clients in oppositions before the EPO. Alex works with multinational companies and SMEs across a wide range of technology sectors including aerosol-generating systems, powder metallurgy, and autoinjectors.

In his spare time, Alex is a keen Texas Hold ‘em player, regularly playing in both live and online games. He also enjoys rock-climbing and snowboarding from time to time.
