Ian Dowling handles patent work in the engineering, manufacturing and consumer product fields.
Ian joined Reddie & Grose in 2012, having qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2009.
At present, Ian works primarily for a global manufacturer of tobacco-based consumer products, handling applications relating to product design and construction, manufacturing processes and packaging. Ian is also experienced in a wide range of engineering fields, with a particular interest in gas turbine engine technology having spent a number of years working for a leading manufacturer in the field. Specifically, Ian is familiar with turbine blade casting and coating, exhaust nozzle designs, thrust augmentation, fuel injection nozzles, fuel flow control systems, gearboxes and tip-turbine engine design.
Ian handles patent and utility model applications in the UK, Europe and internationally, as well as advising on freedom to operate searches, designs and more general IP matters. Ian has particular experience of drafting patent applications for prosecution in a number of countries worldwide.
Outside work, Ian’s interests include aviation, astronomy and spending time with his young family.
