Jon has over 10 years’ experience in the patent profession, spanning both private practice and industry. He has extensive experience drafting patent applications and advising clients in relation to electrical power systems, aerospace and computer-implemented inventions.

Jon re-joined Reddie & Grose in 2024, having previously worked in the firm’s electronics and software group from 2013 to 2019. He is based in the firm’s London office but also works in the Midlands.

Jon was an in-house patent attorney at Rolls-Royce plc, based in Derby, from 2019 to 2024. As well as working with gas turbine technology, Jon had a particular focus on electrification, including the development of novel electrical machine and power converter technologies for electric and hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft. Jon’s time at Rolls-Royce gave him invaluable insights into the role of patents in large businesses and the importance of building strong patent portfolios.

Jon qualified as a UK and European Patent Attorney in 2017, and was awarded the Gill Prize by the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys for the best overall performance in the 2016 UK qualifying exams. Prior to entering the patent profession, Jon studied Physics at the University of Oxford, specializing in Condensed Matter Physics including semiconductor technologies.
Outside of work, Jon enjoys watching cricket and trying to keep up with his one-year-old working Cocker Spaniel, Roxy.
