Matthew joined Reddie & Grose in January 2021, shortly after completing a master’s degree in Physics at the University of Warwick.

During his time at university, Matthew took a particular interest in areas such as medical physics, laser physics, optoelectronics, and condensed matter physics. His master’s project involved comparing two different types of radiotherapy plan, with respect to patients with breast cancer. The project involved comparing the robustness and clinical viability of these two methods.

Whilst at university, Matthew also undertook a research project analysing Colossal Barocaloric Effects (CBE’s) only recently observed in plastic crystals; a motivation for this project was the potential use of plastic crystals in solid state refrigeration. His research involved using Monte Carlo methods to explore the critical point between at which this phase change occurs, and culminated in presenting his research at an undergraduate scientific conference.

In his spare time Matthew is an avid hiker; his hobbies also include playing guitar, judo, and reading.
