Pete has a great deal of expertise in matters before the European Patent Office, having represented a number of clients in patent oppositions up to the highest levels before the Boards of Appeal. He also advises clients on infringement risk.

Pete joined Reddie & Grose in 2005 and became a partner in 2015.

Pete specialises in drafting and obtaining patents for inventions in the software, electrical, electronic and physics fields. He works across a wide range of technologies, with recent work including advising clients on standard essentiality for a portfolio of telecoms patents. Pete also works in the fields of electric vehicles, electric motors and soft starters, including associated control systems, and drones for military and civilian use. Pete also has experience of various sensor technologies, such as CCD devices, and a variety of medical devices including ultrasound therapy.

A large part of Pete’s practice involves advising on the patentability of software related inventions in areas such as data processing and business systems, medical devices, control of industrial machines, consumer entertainment devices, user interface software for mobiles and other consumer devices, video games and music software and audio processing. Pete and his team also have detailed technical knowledge in applications of photonics and photovoltaics.

His clients range from start-ups and SMEs, who he advises on IP strategy for maximising value to investors, through to multinational companies, who he assists with cost effective patent drafting and prosecution. With experience filing and prosecuting patent portfolios in the US, China and many other jurisdictions, Pete drafts applications with a view to successful protection around the world.

Pete’s clients are based all over the UK, Europe and beyond, with a number of local clients in the Thames Valley, Berkshire and Oxfordshire areas.

Outside of work Pete enjoys keeping fit by running, and then undoing all that good work by playing video games. He is also a keen guitarist and music recording technology enthusiast, and very much enjoys it when he gets to advise on music and recording related inventions, including guitar effects processing and music mixing technology.
